History



STSC-CMU was in operation since 1 May,2000 under CMU administration and managed by the Director of STSC-CMU. It became an integral part of the Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University in 2008 according to an announcement on the division of Functional Units in academic and other sectors (No.1) on 30 December, 2008. The name was also changed from Science and Technology Service Office to Science and Technology Service Center, Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University. The objectives are :

1.       To provide academic service in science and technology as well as create academic collaboration between the Faculty of Science and other internal or external sections of the University both government and private in order to support the knowledgeable and capable personnel in the Faculty of Science to make use of their research, invention and various prototypes in response to  social need. This will lead to the utilization of novel technologies for country development.

2.       To apply the knowledge and experience from academic services for the development of studying, teaching and research in the Faculty of Science which will lead to academic excellence in accordance with the country requirement. A part of income from the service will be used for the development and improve academic quality of the Faculty of Science in all aspects.

Visions

                STSC-CMU is a center for service in science and technology providing  good service, quality and standard with reasonable charge acceptable and reliable to government and private sectors within and outside the University.

Policy

1.       Provide academic service in science and technology as well as creating collaboration with other government and private organizations within and outside the University.

2.       Promoting research for the development and application in science and technology and arousing the motivation of the Faculty of Science personnel to develop their knowledge and academic experience in connection with the requirement of government and private sectors within and outside Chiang Mai University.

3.       Transfer the knowledge, technology and experience to private sectors and community for the development of the country.

4.       Research on various problems in the northern community

5.       Look for income to increase the assets for the functional units and the University.

Mission

 

                STSC-CMU, Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University is a progressive unit in providing academic services, transferring knowledge and technology as well as increasing income to the departments and the University.
